Today, I weighed in at 219.2 pounds. My starting weight was 245.5 pounds, so I’ve lost 26.2 pounds and hit my goal to lose 10% of my body weight by Labor Day. I’m thrilled to have reached this milestone.

So far, my weight loss hasn’t seemed all that hard. I still have a lot of momentum and enthusiasm, so it doesn’t seem burdensome to track what I’m eating or to choose healthier foods. I’ve had some struggles: For instance, a few weeks ago, I went completely off track for two weeks during a family cruise and gained three pounds. (Incidentally, I think that jump-started my metabolism, though, because I’ve had bigger losses after that than I had before it and have lost the weight I gained.)

Even though it seems pretty simple, even fun, right now, I know that it won’t always seem that way, which is challenge I’m expecting down the road. In the past, I got bored with tracking food after a while and started slacking off, counting in my head rather than on paper or online, which led to not tracking at all, which led to really bad choices and fairly huge weight gain. I’m trying to plan how I’ll handle it and keep going when weight loss stops seeming so easy.

In other news, I’m going to be starting a new job soon, my first real post-college job. Yay! I’ll be getting up pretty early in the morning, which won’t be fun, but I’ll deal with it. Apparently, today my body decided that since I’ll be getting up so early from here on out, I should start doing that RIGHT AWAY. So I’ve been up since before 7. Sigh. But now I’m going to go make myself a delicious roasted peach for breakfast to celebrate reaching my 10% goal!
