This is something that a fellow blogger I know got me hooked on and that I love to participate in, so it will remain a part of my new newsletter style format as a weekly column on my own Weight Loss Wednesday entries. This is where I admit my success and failure for the preceding week and make promises for how I will be better in the week to come. It is a lot of fun, so please, come back and check out the Weight Loss Wednesday entries and go visit Two Mom’s In A Blog (twomomsinablog.com) to see who else is participating in this healthy meme.

If you get a chance, check out weighins.com. It’s a supportive close-knit community for people wanting to lose weight. With a free membership you can join a weight loss challenge (like the Biggest Loser tv show). You also get a free calorie counter and a personal diet journal. I like it much better than sparkpeople.

Jessie just reported in with her update. She’s down “” as she’s calling it and is one quarter of the way towards her goal of a 100 pound weight loss. She’s done this over her first 5 week period since taking action on her health and believe me, she’s one pretty excited chick!

She explains what she’s doing, how she’s eating, how she’s gotten over the fear of going to the gym and explains what her workouts look like.

oh, and she’s challenge for you too, she’s giving away two weeks of gym time at her gym to workout with her, for those guys and gals living in the Edmonton area. She’s offering this for free to a very special person who wants to take action, and take action now.

Jessie’s a 27 year old mother of 4, so if she can do this, you can do this too.

Today, I weighed in at 219.2 pounds. My starting weight was 245.5 pounds, so I’ve lost 26.2 pounds and hit my goal to lose 10% of my body weight by Labor Day. I’m thrilled to have reached this milestone.

So far, my weight loss hasn’t seemed all that hard. I still have a lot of momentum and enthusiasm, so it doesn’t seem burdensome to track what I’m eating or to choose healthier foods. I’ve had some struggles: For instance, a few weeks ago, I went completely off track for two weeks during a family cruise and gained three pounds. (Incidentally, I think that jump-started my metabolism, though, because I’ve had bigger losses after that than I had before it and have lost the weight I gained.)

Even though it seems pretty simple, even fun, right now, I know that it won’t always seem that way, which is challenge I’m expecting down the road. In the past, I got bored with tracking food after a while and started slacking off, counting in my head rather than on paper or online, which led to not tracking at all, which led to really bad choices and fairly huge weight gain. I’m trying to plan how I’ll handle it and keep going when weight loss stops seeming so easy.

In other news, I’m going to be starting a new job soon, my first real post-college job. Yay! I’ll be getting up pretty early in the morning, which won’t be fun, but I’ll deal with it. Apparently, today my body decided that since I’ll be getting up so early from here on out, I should start doing that RIGHT AWAY. So I’ve been up since before 7. Sigh. But now I’m going to go make myself a delicious roasted peach for breakfast to celebrate reaching my 10% goal!
