What’s The Plan, Stan? |

Having the advantage of being on a diet almost continuously for the last 35 years (except for those years I spent pregnant or nursing) you’d think I’d have a firm opinion on what works for me. I think the fact that I’m 100 pounds overweight is proof enough that I haven’t found that “magic pill” yet. I guess what I have - finally - figured out is that there isn’t a magic pill. It’s all about making life style changes that you can sustain. That being said, I do think I need some kind of framework to work within. Right now I’m paying for the monthly pass for Weight Watchers. I like the point system, but I hate the meetings and the on-line tracker is slow and not well populated with foods. is free and just as easy to use. Again, it’s a matter of having the discipline to use the tool.
So having talked, or , through that decision making process, it is. To start with I’m going to commit to logging my food and getting some form of exercise every day. With the guilt I carry around over my obesity, I always have this mental list of things I should be doing - weight training, more fruits and vegetables, more water, less white flour, less sugar, more fiber, more fill in the blank, less fill in the blank, etc., etc., etc.
So we’ll start with two reasonable goals and see how the first month goes. Move everyday and log your food. And put the rest of the self-flagellation on hold. That last part may be the most difficult.
