A brand new day I read a blog this morning about having a good attitude and this is what was posted: Your attitude can be based on the weather, the amount of traffic congestion, the way people treat you, or a whole lot of other things. Or, your attitude can be exactly what you choose for it to be. When you turn your attitude over to other people or to random circumstances, it’s going to be volatile, undependable and not very productive. By contrast, when you choose your own attitude, independent of what’s happening around you, then you set yourself up to make swift and positive progress. ~Ralph Amen! This is a great quote and may help me with some of my emotional eating… Yesterday, I had a really bag headache in the afternoon and went home early from work. I think it was a mixture of my allergies and the fact that I went to bed late and only got about 4.5 hours of sleep. What was I doing up so late? Watching television. nonetheless…something that I could have watched the next day. I have to make a effort to cut back on my viewing. One thing that I did watch was another Oprah weight loss show. I am doing much better because I actually watched it. Before, when I wasn’t dedicated to losing weight I would not watch her weight loss shows. I had no interest in them. But last night was truly inspirational. One of the women lost 540lbs! She says that she started losing weight when she got into blogging and interacting with people. A blog can be therapeutic I guess. Somewhat like a diary that is shared with the world. …a scary thought but a way to connect with a world outside your own nonetheless. I guess that’s one of the reasons that I’m here blogging now!I think that I am actually going to sign up for challenge. Should be fun! I am proud because after I got about 6-7 hours of sleep I woke up and decided to stay on course with my new exercise . I am doing Leslie walking off the pounds six week program. This week is the mile a day week and I am working towards that. I did almost a mile the first day and a mile yesterday, which was my second day. I am also doing the Beck Diet Solution since its about making changes and that’s exactly what I need. Beck suggested making diet rules so here are four rules to start. 2. Limit or eliminate eating for dinner. Stick with a protein and a vegetable for dinner. 3. Limit or eliminate eating red meat. I still don’t eat much red meat. I find that beef especially leads to weight gain when I eat it. Lamb can be eaten twice a week at most. 4. Make a plan on what I’m going to eat the next day, every day. This has to be done even on weekends. If I don’t do this I will inevitable continue to gain weight. Also, I woke up this morning and weighed myself. I was 222.5! A two pound loss over the last day. I know for a fact that I took in 1800 calories yesterday because I wrote down everything I ate. This has to be water weight since I have not been indulging in an inordinate amount of sweets.
Dieting is not always an easy thing to accomplish. In fact, it can prove to be challenge for many people, including men, women and even overweight teens. But don’t despair, there’s hope…if only you know some important tips for successful dieting. So here’s some sound advice of things to avoid when you are trying to lose weight. It is important that you are able to maintain control as you try to conquer your weight woes. Keep reading if you want to know what things you must avoid like the plague in order to succeed at losing weight. planning your diet 1. Don’t Rush The first tip is that you do not rush into the toughest diet you can find and this is a common mistake. Many people decide in a moment of desperation to follow a super-strict diet and it is simply a set-up to fail. Don’t rush into a diet that may be too strict for you. Be honest with yourself…are you really going to be able to stick with it? If you don’t have any dieting experience and are not 100 percent sure you can stick with the diet, then you might want to choose something else. 2. Stay Grounded The second tip for successful dieting is that you make sure you do not lose touch with reality. Weight loss, just like weight gain, is not something that happens overnight so when choosing your goal, start small, and be prepared to make a long term commitment. If you hear someone saying that he lost a significant number of pounds in a short time, don’t make it your goal to match his performance. Diet results are different from one person to another. 3. Don’t Burn Out Your Work Outs The third tip for successful dieting is not to go the gym too often. In many cases, first day enthusiasm causes the dieter to hit the gym every day. This won’t help you at all since there’s often no way you can keep that up for the long term and are simply setting yourself up to fail. Your body needs time to heal and expand the muscle mass after each training session and going to the gym every day interferes with this natural process. Besides, a week of non-stop training could never offset ten or twenty years of the couch potato lifestyle. 4. Don’t Overdo the Math 5. Don’t Take A Pass Next tip for successful dieting is, absolutely do NOT skip meals. Some people think that skipping one or two meals could help them lose weight faster. They don’t understand that dieting is all about eating the right food and not starving yourself. Especially if you plan on going to the gym, your body is going to need that energy that healthy and sensible food will provide. 6. Watch Your Weight But Not Daily Also, another good weight loss tip is to be sure you don’t check the bathroom scales everyday. Everyone on a diet is eager to see the confirmation of his or her efforts in the shape of lost pounds, but in many cases, weight fluctuates each day which can be depressing and soon you will be ready to quit your “miracle diet”. This is obviously something you want to avoid. 7. Keep A Tight Rein On Emotions In addition, be sure you don’t let emotions drive you. Aside from the eagerness that drives people to check their weight every day, there are other emotions that influence dieting. If you know you’re used to reaching out for ice-cream when you are bored, frustrated or angry, then don’t buy any ice cream at all…don’t keep it in the house…or at least limit yourself to a pint of simply divine ice cream over the course of a week. As the saying goes, “Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!” so in times of despair just remember that stunning yellow polka dot bikini and keep up the hard work. It will pay off. 8. Don’t Be An Island Another dieting tip is to seek help. Everyone wasn’t born with iron will and nerves of steel. If you need advice or help, don’t hesitate to ask it from your friends or from professionals. A problem won’t seem so devastating is you’ve got professionals, family and friends on your side giving support. 9. Diets Aren’t Food Prisons Be sure not to deny yourself your favorite foods too. Treats are a great way of raising your willpower, determination and moral. Diets are just food control methods, not prisons. So what if you eat something forbidden once in a while, especially if that food is a favorite of yours? If such treats are not frequent, then they will make no difference in the long run. Moderation is the key so just be sure to keep it small. 10. Willpower Needs A Dance Partner Finally, absolutely don’t rely on your willpower alone Use your head as well. If you wish to know how much you eat, then write everything down and analyze the list for things that should not be there. Sometimes hunger creeps up on you and make you eat something you shouldn’t. Be honest with yourself and keep a clear head. By following these easy tips for successful dieting it will make losing those extra pounds easier. There is no fast way to lose weight. It takes determination, a healthy diet, frequent exercise, and a positive attitude. Dieting can be a snap, just as long as you follow these tips! Read out Weight loss help. and staying there can be challenge for those that are overweight. It will take determination and persistence to make a lasting change. A lot of people know about diet and exercise but they fail to apply what they know to achieve real results. Here are some tips to help you get to a healthier weight. Set Goals This is an important step and it is something many people that go on a weight loss program skip over thinking that it does not matter or make much of a difference. The reality is that creating proper goals can practically guarantee that you will lose weight. That is how powerful this can be if it is done right. The first step is to first get very clear as to why you want to lose weight. Really dig deep and get down to the core reasons. It is fine and in fact recommended that you get emotional here because if your reasons are strong enough then losing weight will become much easier. Once you have your reasons you must write them down clearly on a piece of paper or type them up. Putting these reasons on paper has incredible power that is difficult to explain but time and time again people that write their goals down have been shown to accomplish 100 times more than those that do not. Next you need to decide what weight you would like to be at one month, three months and twelve months from now. Be reasonable and go for a loss of ten to fifteen pounds a month until you reach your ideal weight for your height. Again make sure you put these targets written down on paper next to the reasons you came up with earlier. Now you must review these targets and reasons daily. This is critical to ensure that you stay on track so be sure to do this as it only takes a few minutes each day. Exercise Properly and Eat Right Do not get intimidated or discouraged by exercise. Remember that all it really takes is some movement on a regular basis and with a proper diet weight loss will be inevitable. It does not mean that you need to do a marathon each day but you do need to at least get some physical activity going. Aerobic exercise is important and it can be done in many ways. You can take part in a sport like golf or tennis for thirty to sixty minutes a day to get your aerobics or you can go to a gym and use their equipment. Even a simple walk outside for an hour or so can be effective if the weather is nice. Again the idea is to move your body, you do not need to do any vigorous movements when it comes to aerobics in order for it to be effective. Also make sure to do some weight training at least once a week or two to build up your muscles and keep them strong. Keep in mind that muscle burns calories all the time so adding some muscle will increase your metabolism which in turn will make fat loss easier. When looking at diet you want to consume smaller meals more frequently. This will assist in maintaining a higher metabolism as your body knows it will be provided regular nutrition so it will not go into starvation mode where it tries to store fat. Eat about once every 3 to 4 hours and make sure that the sizes of the portions are smaller. Of course try to add more fruits and vegetables but really you can eat almost anything as long as you keep the portion sizes small. Follow some of these strategies to help you lose weight and keep it off permanently.
