Dieting News & Commentary Dieting News & Commentary Dieting News & Commentary

Today has been a so-so dieting day, I ate well for the most part but I did not find the time to exersise. I did go over my glamour workout to test the moves and I liked it, I will be starting it out tommorow. My daily goal for tommorow is to go through the glamour routine one time. I will also add to that goal, I will drink 2 bottles of water as well. As for the weekly goal, I am going to concentrate on diet by starting to follow weight watchers points again. The good thing about weight watchers is the fact that it is not restrictive in the variety of foods you can eat. I like that a lot about the diet. I am going to try to really stick to the diet good so that I can give myself a good report when I update tommorow.

On to the new motivation that I mentioned in the title of this post. My sister called my mom today and told her that she was starting weight watchers so that she would look good for my graduation. My mom in turn decided that she needed to start weight watchers tommorow, so that she to can look good for my graduation. What about me? I guess I am going to have to start weight watchers so that I can look good at my graduation to…nothing like all the female members of your family starting a diet to motivate you to action. My sister also owns a treadmill and is not afraid to use it, so I am going to have to get off my behind and get outside if I am going to keep up with her. I was really glad to hear about their plans, I have over 2 weeks now blogging and trying to get started with a diet plan, and they gave me just the kick I needed. Maybe, I will have some more inciteful advice over the course of this coming week because I am going to be detoxing. Not from drugs, but from food! The first day of a diet program is always great when you have that motivation high, but then the next few days are tough. I will write back over the course of the next several days and let you in on how I am feeling and how the diet is going. My family may want to stay away for the next while, because starving does not tend to bring out the best in me…haha! When I say starving, do keep in mind that I don’t mean that I will actually be starving myself. I will be eating all the points I am alloted by weight watchers, the reason I say that I will be starving is that my weight watchers points allowance, which is a healthy amount of food, is nothing compared to what I have been eating. But I will be okay, everyone feels a little deprived when they start to change their lives for the better!

I don’t really have that much to say tonight so I will just list my goals for the coming week and tommorow!

daily goal- 1 round of the glamour strength training workout and 2 bottles of water.

weekly goal- 2 bottles of water and to watch my diet!

I will update tommorow with how everything goes, I am thinking if I start the strength training and exercising tommorow then by Thursday I may show another negative number, here is hoping!

Remember to watch The Biggest Loser tommorow, they are getting close to deciding the final four!

Please feel free to leave comments!

The Atkins diet is a controversial diet method that Dr. Robert Atkins originally wrote about in 1972. It is a high protein, low carb diet that became incredibly popular in the 1990s and is still practiced today. Here are some guidelines that will help you learn the secret behind the Atkins Diet.

For starters the elimination or drastic reduction in the consumptions of carbohydrates is the cornerstone of this diet plan. The theory of Atkins is that since our bodies burn up the sugars that carbohydrates first for energy, our metabolism never gets around to burning fat away because the energy needs come from the carbs. Hence we don’t lose weight with the carbs in our system.

One reason Atkins is popular is that it replaces carb consumption with high protein food groups so you are actually encouraged to eat a lot of meat, cheese, fish and eggs which other diets restrict heavily. And since the body burns off fats easily without carbohydrates in the system, Atkins allows you to enjoy some fats like butter and salad dressings that people hate to give up.

The medical term Atkins teaches for what happens when the body is denied carbohydrates and it turns to burning other fuels is called “ketosis”. And this natural function means that out bodies naturally burn fat when it needs fuel and carbs are not in our systems to provide that fuel. And as fats are burnt off, we lose weight the natural way.

But the heart of why Atkins works is also in the attitude we are taught because to stay on the diet, we have to do what most diets don’t ask us to do which is demand our diet requirements even when eating out. An Atkins dieter is forceful in a restaurant to tell the waiter exactly what can and cannot be served with his or her meal. This means that even in a hamburger joint, you speak up to insist you get your hamburger without the bun but with extra lettuce, pickles and tomato. And your strict observance of the carb free lifestyle also means no french fries, onion rings, potatoes or anything else that will introduce sugar to your system.

People who know the secret of how to be successful using Atkins are not embarrassed to make unusual requests in a restaurant. But by being courageous and outspoken that you are on Atkins and proud of it, you lay the groundwork for success. Because just like in anything else in life, to be a success you have to put out the effort and put up with the sacrifices.

But there is no substitute for being informed about every detail of the Atkins approach. So go from reading this and other articles to finding a book on Atkins that lays out the groundwork of the plan. Once you understand the diet, you can find plenty of other help on the internet and from fellow Atkins dieters in your community. In this way, you will pick up on those insider tricks of how to be a success with the Atkins diet.

It has been proven again and again that the Atkins diet can work for a broad range of people, there is a short transition period where your body adjusts - but isn’t it worth it in the long run if you can find a diet that works in the long term? Start off strict with the diet and then ease off slightly when you have reached your target weight so it is easier to stick to.

Jillian Michael’s latest podcast is online!  You can find her official page over at KFI AM 640, with links and show descriptions.  It’s her weekly radio talk show, with listener calls and interviews.  Good stuff!  Great to listen to in the car or during your workout.  Personally, I love it because there’s more actual weight loss content and information in one episode of her show than a season of Biggest Loser. Also, you can subscribe to the show on iTunes … but it’s a little bit of a pain.  Search for KFI Sundays; it’s the radio station’s weekly podcast, however, it subscribes you to all of their Sunday shows.  My iTunes doesn’t automatically download everything, though, so I just select the Jillian Michael’s show.  : )  Or you can manually download it to your computer through the links below!

To download it, right click the link below and select save target as to save it to your computer.
