49 Days To Go (112 Day Challenge) Yes I went missing in Action again! I have been away and distracted and guess what - it shows up in my level of commitment and focus on losing weight! I have put back on a kilo so I’m back to 78 Kilos. I sat down and worked out that I will need to lose now every month without fail 3 kilos a month! That may sound simple but we all know weight loss seems simple if you base it on maths but when you base it on real life - its not! else we would all be skinny. Last night I watched the American version of biggest loser and it got me inspired as all weight loss shows do. I am going to have to act like I’m in my own ‘BIGGEST LOSER” camp if I am to succeed. The funny thing is that , this is my usual pattern of behaviour in that I leave every thing to the last possible minute and if I keep going the way I am I will not have any where to go but lose my challenge and that won’t do! Watch this space! Tag: Biggest Loser

Being an overweight person in today’s world is becoming a normal condition; this is also becoming a major health problem for young people with increasing numbers affected by heart conditions. In order to lose those excess pounds, many people resort to surgery whereas other people realize that a healthy diet with regular exercise is a better method. Of course if you are really in a hurry then you can always use weight loss medication to speed the process up. The drugs work by increasing the serotonin levels in the brain, making it believe that the stomach is already full, thereby, increasing the person’s metabolic rate. The problem arose when it was found that one of the side effects from this type of drug was the increased risk of heart valve disease and of course the drug was quickly withdrawn from use. Not to be defeated though, manufacturers have introduced updated drugs, prescribed by doctors but the FDA approval process is slow. These weight loss pills have become popular and you can almost guarantee that you will know of someone who has tried them with success. It is a tempting proposition, to lose weight while still maintaining the same diet; who would say no? As a result of this, consumers everywhere have spent untold millions on these supposed wonderful weight loss drugs. An individual wishing to buy weight control pills can do over-the-counter or have them prescribed by their doctor; however there are still health risks associated with their use. Other harmful side effects include tightness in the chest, urinary tract problems and stroke. An overdose of the diet pills can cause tremors, confusion, hallucinations, shallow breathing, renal failure even heart attack and convulsions. The best course of action before taking any type of pill is to consult your doctor; here are many factors that could contribute to any problems you experience and these do not necessarily stop when you cease taking the pills. The side effects experienced by users of weight loss pills can include noticeable mood swings, hyper-activity, stomach pains, insomnia, nightmares, severe irritability, extreme fatigue, depression, nausea, vomiting and trembling. Despite all the bad publicity, weight loss drugs do work but they are more successful if they are used in conjunction with a low calorie diet and regular exercise, preferably using a properly worked out exercise regime. A low calorie diet would consist of meals that contain vitamins, minerals and fiber which are all essential for good health; the best sources are fruit and vegetables. Of course this should always be combined with a good exercise routine which will use up excess calories and provide a good all round fitness workout. The best exercise plans should have cardiovascular and weight training exercises as this helps burn calories and increase the muscle to fat ratio that will increase a person’s metabolism and assist with weight loss.
