On tonight’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy learn all about an exciting weight loss and healthy living community called The Daily Plate which is part of LiveStrong.com from their Director of Community Lex Friedman. The Daily Plate has some great features: one is called the DARE where you can dare yourself to challenge and have the community cheer you on and support you towards your goal. They also have one of the best food databases and food entry systems we have seen. We also liked how if you have not logged in for awhile the community sends you an email gently nagging you to try and get you back on track. They also features a great questions and answers section as well as input from experts like Lance Armstrong. It’s a great community driven site that is worth a look. To learn more about all the tools, support and features please check out their site at www.thedailyplate.com and www.livestrong.com For more Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy check out our new Wellness Minutes blog where we give you in depth information on health, fitness and weight loss topics in 3 minutes or less every single day. Loss of 1.7kgs this week, bringing my total to 19.9… couldn’t have just dropped that 0.1 hey - to make it a round 20… dammit! Just got back from my walk - I’ve made it up to 90th position this week so far on the walking challenge - that’s the highest I’ve gotten so far. Should make it to the next checkpoint by Sunday. Had another disagreement with my band this morning. I felt like an egg, so cooked my ordinary little brown toasts, plus an egg, and because there was some thin shaved ham in the fridge, threw that on the toasty flat machine too. Well, I ate nearly one piece, and then we had the disagreement and back up it came. I swear I chewed my heart out! Must have been the ham, that’s the second time with ham… will leave ham for a while now. Next time I’ll just have the egg! Today’s food: Tomorrow night I’m going straight from work for $3 cocktails at this little bar in town with the guys from work… then we are going for dinner for a farewell to one of my staff… and back for more drinks… hope my band likes dinner!
With only one day remaining, I am very pleased to report that I have recovered from dinner on Monday and weighed in at 169.8 pounds this morning on the scale! This means I only need to maintain my weight today in order to meet my objective of under 170 lbs by the conclusion challenge! My menu was limited the last two days in an attempt to filter out a lot of the food from earlier in the week. I have actually converted now to plain bagels once I realized how significant the impact was from adding cream cheese or peanut butter to them. I would much rather forgo those calories at breakfast and use them elsewhere in the day. I did find time the past two days to exercise and I will be running 1.5 miles after work today as part of my 5K workout regimen. If I can keep my sodium and calories to a respectable level, I should be able to finish tomorrow below my target weight and begin preparing the celebration in Cancun! challenge is complete, I am going to crunch the numbers and complete some analysis to see if there were noticeable trends that showed up in my totals. It would be extremely useful to know what worked challenge so I can continue doing more of the same after it is over. It is safe to assume that eliminating all snacks and sweets certainly helped a little :). Here was the full menu from Tuesday (including exercise): (Morning weigh-in - 172.6 lbs) -bagel with light butter Here was the full menu from Wednesday (including exercise): (Morning weigh-in - 170.6 lbs) -vitamin
